Reason 29|50

Do you find yourself always coming down with the sniffles or the nagging “twinge” in your throat??

If so, that might be a sign of a compromised immune system..

Exercise is commonly know to boost the body’s immune system which will help keep bacterial infections under control and keep you out of the sick bed.

Fight sickness and disease with a steady dose of EXERCISE!!

Stepping Up Exercise Intensity

Want to step up exercise intensity?

Try supersets or circuit training. These two training methods will get your heart pumping and give you the ability to complete your workout in less time.

You will have to have the right mental state because this will be tougher than normal. You will will have to keep pushing yourself to get it done!

It will be tough but the results won’t let disappoint you

The Most Important Muscle

Ok people this is exercise phys 101… What’s the most important muscle in the body??

Hint: you won’t notice it in spandex, boy shorts, cut-off shirts, or tank tops. In fact, the only time you think about it is when you are at a high level of exertion or in the hospital (God forbid this latter point).

If you haven’t guessed it, it’s your Heart!

Resistance training (anaerobic) and “Cardio Activity” (aerobic) are the best methods for strengthening this most important muscle.

Keep this in mind- the heart is a muscle and as such it needs to be “exerted” to capacities within your respective physical limitations. Would you go workout and pick up 10lbs dumbbell for dumbbell chest presses (while knowing you can do a much heavier load…!?!? Probably Not, why? Because you know you would be wasting your time.

Just b/c you go walk on the treadmill or at times run on the treadmill (or insert your “cardio choice”) doesn’t mean you are strengthening your heart or ilicting a metabolic response. Intermittent burst of “acceleration” is known to be the best method for strengthening the heart vs. “traditional cardio” (I will elaborate on this in a later post)

The basic point here is, exercise DOES strengthen your heart but it needs to be noted that there is a specific protocol for doing so..

Exercise Strengthens Your Bone

Reason 26|50

Get off your butt and onto your bones!!

Your bones are actually living tissue that responds to weight bearing activities by getting stronger. Exercise is an important component for treating and preventing osteoporosis.

So what are the best exercises for strengthening your bones?? The best are exercises which forces you to work against gravity such as:

-resistance training
-climbing stairs

Bone health is important at all ages but it’s importance grows as we begin age. Keep your bones strong by giving them weight bearing activities.

Today after my workout my trainer pulled me aside and said:

“Rob, you did a great job today because you showed up! Then he said, Listen, you “think too much” and at times you try waayy too hard. This is you and God created you for all that you are doing, so just let go and rest in him. Don’t push or pull just rest in HIM!

Hey, didn’t you tell me that this life chapter- “R2” (is what you called it) is your Resurgence?? So continue on, but not in your own strength, but in the strength that comes from above!

Let’s do this again tomorrow!!
