4 Self- Motivating Mind Tricks

Are you struggling with self motivation? Having a hard time getting yourself to your regularly scheduled workouts? Finding more and more reasons to cheat on your healthy diet?

You’re not alone and today I’ve got just the 4 Self-Motivating Mind Tricks that you need to lock onto your goals…

A healthy dose of motivation coupled with determination will get you almost anything in life. So how do you know if you’re genuinely motivated?

• Motivation will tell you to get out of bed for an early workout.

• Motivation will nag you to put down the doughnut.

• Motivation makes passing on fries a reflex.

• Motivation makes a sweat drenched workout exciting.

• Motivation constantly reminds you why you do what you do.

Self-Motivating Mind Trick #1: Pinpoint Your Motivator.

Motivation stems from having a goal. What is your goal? Why do you want to get into great shape?

Once you uncover your personal motivator you’ll find that motivation flows quickly your way.

Take a minute to really uncover the reason that you want to lose the weight. Don’t say something vague like you want to ‘Be thinner‘ or ‘Look more attractive.‘ Dig deeper – there is a very specific motivator in your life, you simply need to uncover it.

Here are some possible motivators…

• I want to have more energy to keep up with the kids.

• I want to improve my health through weight loss to extend and improve my life.

• I want to lose 15 pounds before my vacation.

• I want to restore my confidence to wear sleeveless shirts.

• I want to regain my figure to impress and attract my significant other.

Self-Motivating Mind Trick #2: Make It Official.

When you write something down it suddenly feels official, doesn’t it? Write down your motivator for getting into great shape, and post it where you will see it often—next to your alarm clock, on the bathroom mirror, or in your car.

Each time you see your written motivator take a moment to visualize yourself accomplishing your goal. Try to make the scene as clear in your mind as possible. This is a powerful tool for maintaining your focus and direction.

Self-Motivating Mind Trick #3: Be Practical.

It’s game plan time. You know what you want, and now you need to map out exactly how you’ll achieve it. It is important to be practical in your planning, rather than throwing out ideas that you know you won’t stick with.

With any weight loss goal it is important to 1) maintain a healthy low-calorie diet, and 2) participate in a consistent and challenging exercise program.

Plan a routine that will fit into your schedule and you’ll be more likely to stick with it. Also choose an exercise program that you enjoy—don’t force yourself to jog everyday if you hate jogging.

Self-Motivating Mind Trick #4: Call For Backup.

Enlist the support of your friends, family and co-workers. Tell everyone about your goal to lose weight and get fit, you’ll be surprised how supportive most people will be. By being open about your goals you’ll likely be an encouragement to others to make healthy changes in their own lives.

The most effective way to ensure that you meet your goal is to enlist my support, your personal trainer and coach. Together we will identify what really motivates you. Together we will design a workout routine that fits into your schedule and into your life. And together we will see it through until your goal is met.

Reflections. Goals. Resolutions.

Chalk BoardHalloween is the “unofficial” gateway to caloric overload.
Treats. Sweets. Indulgences. Reflections. Goals. Resolutions.  All of these words are associated with the holiday season and the dawning of a New Year.  After all of the parties, quick meals while out shopping, and two straight months of “cheat days,” Americans are left to reflect on their unachieved goals from the past year and once again, set New Year’s resolutions.

Funny-new-years-resolutions-someecards-58b8d6273df78c353c22f120Have you ever stopped to think why only 8% of all New Year’s Resolutions are kept?  How difficult is it to stop 2 months of over indulgence when the clock strikes midnight on January 1st?  Why not start implementing small changes in November and December to set yourself up for success?  Huff Post has a great article from December of last year that offers tips on changes in the New Year.

New Year's ResolutionsIt seems retail stores roll out Christmas decorations earlier and earlier every year, why not start planning your New Year’s Reset earlier this year!?!  B.A.M. Logic is an easy way to lay out and stick to a plan:  BEGIN with a Goal / Plan.  Achieve Consistency.  Maintain Motivation.  I would love to help you plot your plan of attack for a successful in 2018! #MondayMotivation – Les Brown & Genius Mindset

maxresdefaultSince the eighties, the resources which attempt to guide us toward becoming the best version of ourselves is abundant. Over the last month I have shared a lot of motivational resources, MOTIVATION MONDAY – Tony Robbins, Motivation Monday — THE ROCK, and last week’s blog, #MotivationMonday – School of GREATNESS.   Today, I am featuring a man who offers daily inspiration in my life, Les Brown and his YouTube Channel, Genius Mindset.

This incredible man was born on the floor of an abandoned building and given up for adoption at 3 weeks old and found a home with a single mother who believed in him.  The importance of her entrance into his life, Brown concludes, was immeasurable. “Everything I am and everything I have I owe to my mother,” he told Rachel L. Jones of the Detroit Free Press. “Her strength and character are my greatest inspiration, always have been and always will be.” (http://biography.yourdictionary.com/les-brown).  Les Brown 2Mr. Brown has gone from being born on a floor and sleeping on the floor of his office while he was homeless, all the way to lifting himself and millions of others off of the floor.

He has an incredible YouTube channel which focuses on living the best life possible!   Take some time to browse through some of the life-changing talks, lectures, and quotes.  Let me know what you think!

#TeamKilla Set #4 – #CoachRobJsTT

21032703_1817881674890521_3711140115890992152_nFrom Coach Rob J – Steph is committed to being her best and this is how she and I went about transforming her body from a size 14 to a size 2 in just over a year.  It hasn’t always been easy; there have been tears, yelling, and a lot of pain to get her here.  We were and continue to be on a shared mission. Keep it up Killa! BAM!!!

It’s all about consistency and discipline. The motivation isn’t always there, so many days I force myself to workout, eat right, drink water, go to bed, etc…even if it’s not what I WANT to do that day.   I literally do not allow “excuses” in my life anymore.  Rob said something when I first began doing bootcamp and it has stuck with me for years, “don’t think, just move.”  I repeat this at least 5 times a day to remind myself to do what it takes.  The physical results are of course, fantastic!  Who doesn’t love to be able to wear whatever you want? 20841008_1810494048962617_7664280172392577460_nThe mental and emotional results are the real rewards.

To be able to pick up that heavy weight, go that extra 10 minutes, workout 5-7 times a week, that is mentally strengthening.  I LOVE waking up sore.  It’s a physical reminder that I put in the work, I gave my best, I did what I said I was going to do.  The best part of all of this, however, is when people tell me because of my example, they have started making changes in their own life.  THAT motivates me to lead by example every single day.

20117044_1772344069444282_8322371101545401641_oI don’t consider the time I put into working out, or the food I no longer eat to be “sacrifices.”  Sacrifices are when you give up something valuable for something else.  I gave up things that did not bring value to my life.  Working out and eating healthy have added value to my life.  I don’t miss the old habits at all.  I don’t miss rewarding myself with food and alcohol.  I don’t miss dreading getting dressed for work every morning, I don’t miss feeling sluggish and tired.

20989046_1815588758453146_6440877220144770709_oFrom a size 14 to a 2 may just be numbers to most; for me, it has been a true transformation. Not just a physical one, but more importantly, a mental one.  I got rid of the baggage, and for the first time in my life, I am genuinely happy and strong.

Share your transformation! Hashtag #CoachRobJsTT!   You could inspire someone like Steph aka #TeamKilla has inspired so many of her friends, family, and co-workers!  This lady ROCKS every workout! BAM!!!

MOTIVATION MONDAY – Tony Robbins

TR 1.jpg

A public figure that I truly admire, is Tony Robbins.  After growing up in a household run by an abusive alcoholic mother and being abandoned by his father, Tony decided to mold himself into the inspirational man he is, with no example in sight.  He has transformed his life from that of an underprivileged child to that of a man focused on giving back to the world. Serena

He is an incredibly well-round and intelligent man who has built his life on a firm foundation of education, hard work, and gratitude.  His unique brand of life coaching has been sought after by celebrities like Leonardo di Caprio, sports figures, such as Serena Williams and MMA Champion Chuck Liddell, and even Presidents of the United States.

What I admire most about Tony is that he has created a platform truly designed to help people move forward, overcome personal obstacles, and learn to come from a place which is centered in GRATITUDE!  He is making a huge impact.  His relentless pursuit of personal development and contributing to make our world a better place, make him just the type of man I would like to sit down and have a beer with.  Take 20 minutes to watch this Ted Talk by Tony, which has been viewed over 20 MILLION TIMES!   He must be doing SOMETHING right! BAM!!!

Take Action!

There’s an action step right before you, TAKE IT!
